Held at the swanky Steel Yard in London, the event had a fresh and vibrant feel with a casual approach and a focus on networking. Crowned ‘best in the industry’ with the overall Platinum Envelope Winner Award was programmatic direct mail specialist, Paperplanes for its demonstrable innovation and results achieved for Bower Collective. Golden Envelope Awards went to Propack, Join the Dots, and The Dragonfly Agency, with the latter taking two home. Go Inspire was chosen for Highly Commended. Debuting for the first time this year, the Bright Futures category was introduced to champion emerging talent under the age of 30 in the UK print and mailing industry. This award not only shone a spotlight on rising young talent, but also highlighted the positive shift in terms of diversity within the industry with all shortlisted applicants being female. However, it was Ellie McBeath, account manager at The Dragonfly Agency who took home the award for her “outstanding performance” over the past year. Also new for the 2023 event was the Sustainability Award which was presented to digital marketing firm, Webmart. Print and mailing championed at glittering SMP Awards The SMP Awards returned bigger and more glittery that ever with two new awards for 2023 The IPIA recently held its Autumn Conference at The MTC in Coventry where it hosted a range of speakers, a networking hub, miniexpo, and an interactive panel discussion. Supported by a range of technology developers and suppliers, the event sought to help delegates understand the ways in which they can strengthen the competitiveness of their businesses. The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Rising to the Challenge: Finding Opportunities to Grow and Thrive’, which was chosen in order to help businesses overcome the current challenges in the market. Taking place on Thursday 29th November, the IPIA’s annual Recognising Excellence expo, gala dinner, and awards will be held in Leicestershire. IPIA Autumn Conference helps printers rise to the challenge Created by content platform FuturePrint, EcoPrint was created to inspire change within print and its associated industries. Originating ten years ago in Berlin, the event returned between October 11th and 12th as a Virtual Summit featuring a variety of presentations from 25 guest speakers including Isabelle de Wolfe from HelloPrint and Rachel Watkyn from Tiny Box Company. EcoPrint was supported by a number of suppliers and manufacturers such as swissQprint, Canon, Antalis, HP, Kavalan, Durst, and Siegwerk. The pre-recorded sessions are free to view online via the EcoPrint website and YouTube until Christmas. Organised by Easyfairs the 2023 show attracted over 6,500 visitors who were able to meet with 340 exhibitors. The 2024 event will take place between February 21st and 22nd in Hall 1 of the NEC, Birmingham. Packaging Innovations & Empack has promised to unveil plans for headline speakers over the next few months and has urged visitors to sign up early to keep up to date with all the latest developments. The exhibition follows the success of London Packaging Week which saw an increase of circa 50% in visitors. Packaging Innovations open for registrations Packaging Innovations & Empack states its exhibitors had an average of 91 leads at its 2023 show London Packaging Week, organised by Easyfairs, an event management company responsible for 200 face-to-face events across Europe, has celebrated the return of its luxury packaging show at London’s ExCel. 2022’s debut London Packaging Week took place at Olympia London, which had dedicated areas for luxury products, perfume, makeup, and personal care packaging. The show was an evolution of previous European and London packaging events organised by Easyfairs. This year’s show opened to just under 3,000 visitors on its opening day leading to a 64.1% increase in visitors from last year. The event comprises four exhibitions: Packaging Première for the luxury products market; PCD for perfume, make-up, and toiletries; PLD for premium and luxury drinks; and Food & Consumer Pack for food and everyday packaging. Speaking about the show’s relocation to the ExCeL International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Naomi Stewart, marketing manager, said: "The venue has been perfect. It just feels bigger, better, and more luxurious, and so many productive conversations are going on. "The speaker programme has more than delivered and has brought in that fresh feel and younger audience that we wanted to bring in. It's really taken off, and the whole event has come together."
