sels which was received well and won a BLI 2022 Pro Award. The ApeosPro C entry-level range followed along with the Revoria SC180/ EC1100 models. This is an impressive lineup to have accumulated in little over two years and is complemented at the highest level on the inkjet side by the JetPress 750 S HSM but also now by the launch of the new Revoria Press GC12500. Announced at the Peak Performance Print event in Ratingen, the new GC12500 is the world’s first B2+ dry toner press. The event provided the opportunity for a preview into this new technology with the official launch being penned for spring 2024. With the increase in paper prices and more standardised sizes, B2+ offers a more cost-effective option for the press. The sheet-fed digital press uses Super EA-Eco toner which offers the smallest particles in the world. Using this toner, Fujifilm has developed new toner transfer optimisation technology in the form of a finer magnetic brush to ensure uniformity in the print quality. The press can also print double-sided on paper up to 750 x 662mm which is the largest B2 size for a digital press in the industry. This means the user can print six A4 pages per sheet and handle a variety of paper weights from 64 to 450gsm. The substrate capability is also extended with the press able to print onto synthetic papers as well as thin paper to produce applications such as wrapping paper. The production line has been significantly shortened with the consolidation of the feeder, stacker, and control panel on one side for the press operator. Also highlighted was the latest model in Fujifilm’s flagship inkjet press range, the JetPress 750S High Speed Model of which German company, Prinertec Solutions is the most recent company to invest in. Fujifilm also teased that a new roll-to-roll inkjet press will be introduced at drupa 2024. Storming Ahead With Toner With a 60-year history in toner research, development, and manufacture, Fujifilm is no stranger to this technology. However, in the past two years the company has invested heavily in this area of the market with a range of solutions having been launched in the Revoria range. Two years ago the Revoria PC1120 was launched at Peak Performance Print BrusHappy with the machine’s performance, the business went live with the press in the new year. On how the machine has changed the way the company operates, Buswell says: “Drastically. As Matt said, we had to build a business from scratch. Not just the new site, it was new people, new skillsets, training for people, it’s a whole new process as well so it’s an exciting time for new people coming into the business because it’s new technology and it’s first to market. “It’s been a whole new step up for us in terms of the manufacturing, the training, the processes, and all the things that come with running a factory.” Buswell and Francklow have praised Fujifilm for its support during this change in the business and add that they are looking forward to finding new applications with the press. The FP790 combines inkjet technology and flexo packaging market knowledge with water-based ink also including a unique double white option. Capable of printing on film and paper, the press has a 790mm-wide capacity and has enabled Eco Flexibles to achieve “class-leading production speeds with no makeready and changeover downtime”. It has also enabled the company to achieve extended colour gamut of more than 90% of Pantone colours without more costly spot inks. Software and finishing companies such as Henkel and Nordmeccanica for coating and lamination solutions, and HYBRID Software for the XMF Packaging Workflow solution have already signed up as partners for the new technology. 53 www.printmonthly.co.uk March / April 2024 - Issue 347 ▲ The FP790 features waterbased ink including a unique double white option, and has a 790mm-wide capacity ▼ The headline news of the day was a preview of the new B2+ dry toner press, the GC12500 EVENT SPOTLIGHT: PEAK PERFORMANCE PRINT
